Thunder Bay is on the North Shore of Lake Superior at the north end of the Nor'Wester Mountains. Easily accessible sport crags, multi-pitch rock & ice climbs, and full-on technical scrambles are within ~15+ minutes drive from anywhere in the city. Almost limitless opportunities await those keen on developing new routes.
The Thunder Bay ACC Section is involved in community projects such as Project Peregrine, Nipigon Emergency Evacuation Kit (NEEK) and the Annual Bluffs Spring-Up to Clean-up. Run entirely by enthusiastic volunteers, the Section provides a number of outdoor skills and leadership development opportunities. We welcome everyone from beginner to advanced climbers and scramblers. As one of the more active Sections across the country, we host a number of events including rock and ice climbing clinics, weekend climbing trips, technical hikes, high angle rescue courses, and the Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour. Check our Events calendar or FB Page for details and dates.
