Squaw Bay

Wes and Marcus on the second pitch of Spiral Galaxy (5.8)Scores of classic multi-pitch trad and sport climbs, all overlooking Lake Superior. This area is definitely for experienced climbers with a taste for adventure. Some of the areas hardest aid lines are found here as well, including Test of Patience (A4+) and American Demon (A3).
Trad climbers shouldn't miss the megaclassic Spiral Galaxy (5.8), Cedar Haven (5.9) or Let's Be Frank (5.9), as well as the classic short crack Stuffin' Marthas Muffin (5.10+). Or, you could pick one of several unclimbed plums and bag a new route. A handful of sport routes are also to be found, check out the Chillar Pillar area.
Route development has exploded here recently. There are several moderate to difficult tradlines that scream to be climbed. Try the sustained Cam-A-Lot (5.10b) or the strenuous roof crack Saucisson (5.10c). Talented trad climbers might seek to make the second ascent of Rehearsal (5.11+), said to be the best 5.11 in Thunder Bay!
