Events Calendar

ACC Members Only: Scheduled events are for MEMBERS ONLY who have completed the waiver form (must be signed by parent or guardian if under 18) and met the trip leader's requirements. You can join online at www.acctbay.ca or by filling out a membership form, and paying in full, when you sign up or show up for the event.

Sign Up Early: Call early to be listed if participating (no later than the Wed. before a weekend event, before 9 p.m. - or much earlier for popular events like our Women's Clinics) or if you are willing help lead the trip. Member participation in section events is at the discretion of trip leaders and members must meet trip leaders' requirements.

Skill Levels:

  • Beginner - means you have no or next to no experience with climbing, and have no gear or knowledge of basic safety techniques and procedures. All technical equipment (helmets, harnesses, ice tools, etc.), except shoes/boots, is provided on beginner outings, and the emphasis is on learning and having lots of fun. You just need to bring enthusiasm and a safe attitude.
  • Intermediate - means you have your own basic technical gear (helmet, harness, belay/rappel devices, shoes/boots, tools/crampons), as well as basic self-sufficiency skills (belaying a toprope or lead climber, rappelling safely with a back-up). You are willing to be a first-class second - help set up and tear down climbs and hump gear, and assist trip leaders where possible.
  • Advanced - means you are proficient with most basic/intermediate climbing skills, have all your own gear, and are okay with assuming responsibility for yourself and other event participants. You should plan to sign up for advanced events with your partner, and be prepared to do your fair share of work to make the event happen.

You must have a valid web user account before you can sign up for events on-line. Not a user? Click here to signup.

Beginner Ice Clinic #3

12-Feb-2017
Sunday, February 12 – Beginner Ice Clinic #3
This is a day when preference will be given to first timers to explore the basics of ice climbing and to help with their “self-sufficiency” skills so they can make the transition to ice climbs where greater independence is required. The sessions run at a variety of venues depending on conditions and are a big undertaking for our volunteer leaders. In case of cancellation due to cold or poor ice conditions, watch the website for possible reschedule dates. Those members on the sign-up list will be contacted with details. All club gear, except for boots, will be available for member use. Please leave your pets at home. *Festiv-Ice Day - see the February 26th description for details.

Quotable Quotes

Life is a gamble. You can get hurt, but people die in plane crashes, lose their arms and legs in car accidents; people die every day. Same with fighters: some die, some get hurt, some go on. You just don't let yourself believe it will happen to you.
